Key Responsibilities:
Ensuring the accuracy of the group’s Indirect Tax compliance, returns and payments in the UK and relevant overseas territories (including VAT/GST, packaging and environmental taxes , e-invoicing, Intrastat etc).
Providing day to day assistance around Indirect Tax matters to all parts of the business and other stakeholders, as required.
Leading Indirect Tax advisory workstreams, identifying opportunities and assisting with ad-hoc tax projects.
Managing HMRC and overseas tax authority processes, audits and queries.
Working with and managing overseas advisors to support compliance with overseas filing requirements.
Raising awareness and evaluating the impact of changes in tax legislation or developments.
Driving improvements in Indirect Tax governance, processes, controls and systems and minimising tax risk.
Managing VAT/GST accounting/ reconciliations and providing ownership of the VAT ledgers.
Supporting the business with Customs and Excise compliance.
Key Skills and experience required:
ACA/ATT/CTA/ACCA qualified preferred
Strong technical understanding of Indirect tax, with an in-depth knowledge of how this contributes to the overall business objectives
Operating at a senior level with strong leadership and mentor skills
Sound communication and interpersonal skills, able to build strong working relationships
Proven ability to manage multiple projects and demands efficiently.
A minimum of 5 years’ Indirect Tax experience in industry roles or accountancy practice
Track record of improving Indirect processes and managing governance
Experience of working with ERP systems, analytics tools and excel and the ability to analyse data
European/multi-national and retail VAT experience is beneficial.
Customs & Excise experience preferred but not essential.

The Role:
As the Tax Manager for a small team you will oversee the delivery of work on a portfolio across the team of in excess of 700 tax returns for clients, ensuring the delivery of all their compliance needs in a timely manner alongside supporting the Tax Partner with advisory work.
You will have a broad and interesting portfolio including high net worth individuals, trusts, non-doms and non-residents and assist with capital gains and other considerations. You will be responsible for liaising with these clients, preparing and submitting the personal tax return and liaising with both HMRC and the client throughout.
• Compliance Oversight: Ensure timely and accurate filing of personal tax returns while staying up-to-date with tax regulations. You’ll be the go-to expert for all things compliance.
• Prepare and review tax returns, computations, and disclosures for statutory accounts.
• Provide tax planning advice to optimise tax efficiency and mitigate risks.
• Liaise with external tax advisors and HMRC as necessary.
• Client Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, guiding them through their tax planning needs on matters including IHT, CGT, Succession planning, R&D.
• Training, development, leadership and review for tax staff.
Experience required:
Applicants will be working in an existing tax compliance and or advisory role, perhaps looking for a new challenge in a smaller team that gets you closer to your clients, alternatively an Assistant Manager feeling ready to step up to Manager. With a minimum of ATT qualified and 3 years + tax experience.
