Management Accountant

£30-45,000 DOE | Full-time | Permanent
Sunderland | BGC2380MA

The Firm:

We’re working with a forward-thinking firm of Chartered Accountants who are carving out a strong reputation for delivering high-quality outsourced finance solutions. Operating as a modern and refreshingly down-to-earth business, they embrace flexibility, champion work-life balance, and enjoy early Friday finishes in their spacious, stylish offices. As they continue to experience strong growth—particularly in their outsourced Finance Director service—they are now looking to welcome a Management Accountant into their close-knit, high-performing team.

The Role:

This is a fantastic opportunity to work closely with the Partners, supporting their portfolio of SME clients who rely on the firm for FD and Financial Controller-level support.

You’ll be responsible for preparing monthly management accounts across a variety of systems (Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, CCH, IRIS), analysing P&L and balance sheets, handling cash flow, budgeting, forecasting, and contributing to strategic discussions. There is regular liaison with business owners and senior stakeholders, so strong relationship-building skills are essential.

You’ll join a vibrant, sociable office where collaboration and personality are encouraged—music, conversation, and a shared sense of enjoyment at work are part of daily life.

Experience Required

  • Proven experience preparing management accounts and financial analysis

  • Background in either accountancy practice, industry, or both—ideal candidates will understand the client perspective from both sides

  • Strong communication skills and confidence dealing directly with business owners

  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines with ease

  • Comfortable using cloud-based software (Xero, Sage, QuickBooks) and keen to embrace modern technology

  • Eligible to work in the UK without the need for sponsorship.

Benefits

  • 35-hour working week with early Friday finishes

  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays

  • Easy access parking or close to transport links

  • Spacious, modern offices with a sociable, energetic environment

  • Flexible working within an office-based role

  • Career development opportunities as the firm continues to expand

This is an excellent opportunity for someone in practice who’s keen to gain deeper business insight, or for someone in industry considering a move to a more varied and client-facing position within a thriving accountancy firm.
