The Role:

Working alongside a team of Managers you will be jointly responsible for leading a strong accounts team in the delivery of client services.

Whilst being hands on with the completion of statutory accounts and review work for the team you will also be responsible for leading the delivery on all sole trader and partnership clients, ensuring that client queries are handled efficiently and accounts are with Partners for final review meetings on time with minimal changes required.

You will be expected to manage workflow, assist with planning work, coordinate with other departments including tax, and support more junior members in the team with their work and learning.

You will get to work with a broad range of sectors including professional services, manufacturing, retail, farming and charities.

For those seeking career progression this role is open to experienced Accounts Seniors who are ready to take their first step into management and can provide future career development. Similarly the more experienced Manager who enjoys operating at this level can contniue to do so without any pressure to step up a level.

Experience Required:

  • ACA/ACCA or qualified by experience

  • Minimum of three to four years experience working in an accountancy firm

  • Good technical knowledge in financial and statutory accounting standards

  • Strong attention to detail and analysis skills

  • Confident user of accounting software such as Iris, CCH, Quickbooks, Sage, Xero or similar

  • Organised and able to work with ease to deadlines managing multiple assignments at one time.

  • Exposure to supervisory or management experience

  • A genuine interest in wanting to work with clients and help them with their business accounts

  • Right to work in the UK

Experience Required:

  • The ideal candiadate will be ATT qualified and/or CTA part or fully qualified.

  • Minimum of 12 months relevant UK corporate tax compliance experience. This can have been gained in a mixed accounting role where you now wish to focus on pure tax.

  • Personal tax compliance experience is desirable, not essential.

  • An interest in gaining more advisory and planning experience.

  • Excellent communication skills – both written and oral with an interest to develop key client relationships.

  • Right to work in the UK.

  • Organised and able to manage multiple deadlines.

  • Practical experience working with tax software.

Experience Required:

The position at Assistant or Manager requires a qualified tax practitioner or accountant (CTA/ACA/ACCA/CA) with relevant tax experience gained working in a UK practice adhering to UK laws. You will be a confident tax preparer and able to liaise with clients well using all forms of technology as well as in person.

Advisory experience in IHT and trusts is desirable but a degree of training can be given so is not essential. It is important you can develop rapport quickly working with such a wide range of clients whilst also assisting leading the tax team.
