The Firm:
This leading North East accountancy practice continues to go from strength to strength, with further growth planned as they look ahead to 2026. Known for their long-standing reputation, impressive client base and strong professional brand, they combine the feel of a personable, close-knit team with the scale and ambition of a modern, forward-thinking firm.
You’ll find a sociable culture where people genuinely enjoy working together — with plenty of optional team activities, client events and internal initiatives to get involved in throughout the year. They operate on trust, flexibility and high standards, creating an environment where people can develop, progress and feel fully supported.
With continued expansion within their tax function, they are now seeking a Tax Manager to join their growing team.
The Role:
Working with an enviable portfolio that spans individuals, director/shareholders, partnerships, LLPs and trusts, this role offers a varied blend of compliance and advisory work. The firm prides itself on building long-term relationships, really getting to know clients so they can deliver thoughtful, tailored tax solutions.
You will take ownership of a diverse portfolio of personal tax returns, including HNWIs, reviewing work prepared by junior team members and offering coaching to support their development. You’ll be a trusted contact for clients, assisting with technical queries, HMRC enquiries and disclosures as required.
There will also be opportunities to contribute to a wide range of advisory projects — including capital taxes planning, pension planning, and overseas matters — as well as supporting colleagues with ad-hoc trust and estate work.
A key part of the role will involve helping to enhance the wider tax compliance service, identifying efficiencies, supporting process improvements and embracing new technologies.
Above all, you’ll play an important role in nurturing strong relationships across the firm’s client base, teams and professional network.
Experience Required:
We are looking for an experienced Tax Manager with at least 5 years’ tax experience, ideally CTA-qualified (ATT as a minimum). You’ll bring strong technical knowledge, excellent organisational skills and the confidence to manage multiple priorities while working to tight deadlines.
This is well suited to someone who enjoys variety, can remain calm under pressure, and brings a proactive, solutions-focused approach. Experience reviewing work and supporting junior staff is important, along with the willingness to research technical issues and take ownership of client queries.
Above all, you’ll bring energy, ambition and a genuine desire to progress your career within a supportive and highly regarded firm.
Benefits:
A competitive package is on offer, including:
Clear opportunities for progression
Professional study support where required
Generous holiday allowance
Flexible working
A broad range of additional benefits such as Life Insurance, hybrid working, private medical insurance and more.
