The firm is now entering an exciting new phase of growth and expansion, creating an opportunity to appoint an experienced Business Services Manager who can play a pivotal role in developing and growing their accounting and business advisory service line. This is a unique chance to join a well-established name in the profession while helping shape the next stage of its evolution.

The Role:

In this role, you will take ownership of a varied and technically interesting client portfolio, ensuring the delivery of high-quality accounting and advisory services. You’ll work closely with both clients and internal teams, bringing a proactive and commercial approach to everything you do.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Reviewing complex management accounts and ensuring accuracy and insight for clients

  • Overseeing VAT returns, including more complex areas such as cross-border transactions and partial exemption

  • Reviewing statutory accounts and ensuring all year-end adjustments are completed in a timely manner, particularly for audit clients

  • Managing relationships with clients, including larger entities and overseas parent/subsidiary structures

  • Working collaboratively across Audit, Personal Tax and Business Services teams to deliver a joined-up service

Alongside your client work, you will play an important leadership role within the team:

  • Managing workloads and supporting a team delivering outsourced finance functions to multiple businesses

  • Coaching and developing trainees, ensuring continuous feedback and progression

  • Supporting senior leadership with client management, systems (including Xero) and ad hoc projects

With a strong focus on continuous improvement, you will:

  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and enhance service delivery

  • Spot opportunities within your client base for additional services and support business growth

  • Contribute to cross-selling initiatives and wider firm collaboration

This is a role for someone who enjoys combining technical expertise, client interaction and team leadership, while bringing fresh ideas and a forward-thinking approach.

Experience Required:

You will bring a solid background in practice-based accounting, with experience managing client relationships, reviewing technical work and supporting the wider business.

  • Typically, candidates will demonstrate:

    • Qualified Accountant (ACCA/ACA) or equivalent with several years’ experience working within accounts or business services in accountancy practice

    • Solid experience with preparing and reviewing statutory accounts

    • Proven experience and technical understanding of VAT rules, postponed VAT accounting and keeping up tp date with VAT and accounting changes (such as FRS 102 regarding Revenue and Leases)

    • A Strong work ethic, leading by example, with excellent interpersonal and team working skills

    • A proven ability to manage and grow a client portfolio, maintaining strong and trusted relationships

    • Strong commercial awareness and the confidence to contribute to wider business growth

    • The ability to oversee complex client assignments and deliver high-quality technical work, at times under pressure whilst managing multiplie deadlines.

    • Good working knowledge of cloud based accounting systems such as Xero and Sage.
