The firm is now entering an exciting new phase of growth and expansion, creating an opportunity to appoint an experienced Accounting Manager who can play a pivotal role in developing and growing their accounting and business advisory service line. The Role:
This is a senior leadership role within the firm’s accounting and business services team, with responsibility for managing a portfolio of clients while leading and developing a growing team.
You will oversee the delivery of high-quality accounting and compliance services, ensuring work is completed to a strong technical standard while maintaining excellent client relationships. Acting as a trusted adviser, you will be the main point of contact for clients, providing practical guidance and commercial insight to support their businesses.
Alongside managing your own portfolio, you will play a key role in building and shaping a new team within the Newcastle office. This includes mentoring junior colleagues, reviewing their work, and fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
Key aspects of the role include:
Managing a portfolio of business clients and acting as their primary point of contact
Reviewing management accounts, VAT returns and statutory accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance
Providing guidance on accounting and technical matters, drawing on specialist support where required
Supporting the growth and development of the team through mentoring and coaching
Ensuring work is delivered efficiently, meeting deadlines and maintaining high service standards
Identifying opportunities to improve processes, systems and ways of working
Contributing to the wider growth and development of the service line
This role offers the opportunity to combine client leadership, technical oversight and team development within a growing and forward-thinking practice.
Experience Required:
You will bring a solid background in practice-based accounting, with experience managing client relationships, reviewing technical work and supporting the development of junior team members.
Typically, candidates will demonstrate:
Several years’ experience working within Accounts or Business Services in accountancy practice
Experience leading or supervising a team, with responsibility for reviewing work and supporting development
A proven ability to manage and grow a client portfolio, maintaining strong and trusted relationships
Strong commercial awareness and the confidence to contribute to wider business growth
The ability to oversee complex client assignments and deliver high-quality technical work
You will ideally be ACA or ACCA qualified (or equivalent) with relevant post-qualification experience gained in practice.
