The Role:
Working as part of an experienced payroll team, you'll manage your own portfolio of clients, taking responsibility for delivering an accurate and efficient payroll service from start to finish.
Your role will involve:
Managing the full payroll cycle for a varied portfolio of clients.
Processing weekly, fortnightly and monthly payrolls.
Administering workplace pensions and auto-enrolment requirements.
Calculating statutory payments including SSP, SMP, SPP and other family-related leave.
Responding to client payroll queries, providing a professional and timely service.
Processing payroll amendments, starters, leavers and salary changes.
Completing year-end payroll activities and statutory reporting.
Liaising with HMRC, pension providers and other third parties where required.
Reviewing payroll information to ensure accuracy and compliance with current legislation.
Keeping up to date with changes in payroll legislation and best practice.
This is a varied role where no two days are quite the same, offering the opportunity to build long-term client relationships whilst becoming a trusted point of contact for all payroll matters.
Experience Required:
We're looking for someone with previous end-to-end payroll experience, ideally gained within an accountancy practice or payroll bureau, although strong in-house payroll experience will also be welcomed.
You will ideally have:
At least two years' experience processing payroll from start to finish.
A good understanding of PAYE, pensions and auto-enrolment legislation.
Experience calculating statutory payments manually where required.
Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to your work.
Excellent communication skills with a customer-focused approach.
The ability to manage multiple payrolls and deadlines simultaneously.
Experience using payroll software and Microsoft Excel.
A willingness to continually develop your technical knowledge as legislation evolves.
