The Firm:
Fancy working somewhere a little bigger, more dynamic and with plenty of room to develop? This is an opportunity to join a major international professional services firm from its impressive Newcastle city-centre office. You will gain exposure to interesting private client work within a genuinely collaborative environment. It is a professional business with a refreshingly human culture – ambitious, supportive and focused on giving its people the flexibility and opportunity to build a career that works for them.
The Role:
This is a role for someone with solid personal tax experience who is ready to take the next step. You’ll join the tax team looking after the personal tax affairs of a varied portfolio of private clients and firm partners. Your day-to-day work will include preparing and reviewing self-assessment tax returns, calculating and arranging tax payments, dealing with queries throughout the year and working with colleagues and external contacts to ensure everything is delivered accurately and on time.
There is plenty of variety and, importantly, scope to grow beyond pure compliance. You’ll have the opportunity to develop your knowledge across areas such as trusts, Inheritance Tax and wider private client matters, while working alongside experienced tax professionals.
The firm has a clear career framework, but it is not a rigid one – progression is encouraged and shaped around your strengths and ambitions.
And then there is the flexibility. The role operates on a hybrid basis, with the team typically spending around three days in the office, but there is a genuinely flexible approach in practice. Part-time hours are also very much open for discussion, making this an attractive opportunity for someone looking for greater flexibility without compromising on career progression.
Experience Required:
We’re looking for an experienced personal tax professional who enjoys working with clients and wants to develop their career within a larger professional environment.
You’ll ideally bring:
Around 3 years’ experience in personal tax.
ATT qualification.
Good working knowledge of UK personal tax compliance.
Experience preparing self-assessment returns, ideally including returns for partners.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage deadlines effectively.
Confidence communicating with clients, colleagues and other professional advisers.
Good Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and Word.
Experience of trusts or Inheritance Tax would be advantageous, but is not essential.
Benefits:
Full or Part-time hours available
Flexible working arrangements including hybrid.
Private healthcare, wellbeing days
25 days holiday on joining, increasing with service, option to purchase additional days
Life assurance, death in service, sickness, maternity & paternity enhanced pay
Annual salary review and bonus
Full support for CTA exmas and membership subscriptions paid.
