The Firm:
This fast-growing and highly successful accountancy firm continues to go from strength to strength, supporting ambitious SME clients across the UK. With a strong presence in the North East and a growing national profile, the firm has built a reputation for commercial thinking, technical excellence and a progressive approach to client service.
Based in Newcastle and easily accessible, they offer a dynamic, forward-thinking environment where change is embraced, ideas are welcomed and people are encouraged to shape the future of the business. Growth is deliberate, well-managed and creates genuine opportunity for senior professionals who want to make their mark.
The Role:
This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join an expanding accounts and business advisory team at Senior Manager or experienced Manager. Working closely with the Partner group, you will play a key role in both the day-to-day delivery of services and the continued growth of the firm.
You’ll act as a trusted advisor to a portfolio of SME clients, operating in a role similar to a Financial Controller / Financial Director across multiple businesses. This includes reviewing management and year-end accounts, spotting issues or opportunities others may miss, and providing commercially focused advice that supports client decision-making.
You’ll be a self-starter who can work independently while also leading and motivating a wider team. Taking ownership comes naturally to you — whether that’s managing deadlines, onboarding new clients, improving processes, or developing people. You’ll be encouraged to network, build your profile in the market and contribute ideas that help the firm evolve. Bringing a client following is welcome and open to discussion, but not essential.
Key aspects of the role include:
Acting as the primary contact for a portfolio of growing SME clients
Lead client onboarding, delivery planning, and ongoing communication
Reviewing accounts prepared by the team with overall responsibility for ensuring delivery of all financial data each month from VAT returns to MI packs, statutory accounts, tax compliance and management accounts
Budgeting, cashflow forecasting and variance analysis
Coordinating preparation of P11Ds, PSA submissions, and liaise with internal and external tax teams where needed
Business partnering with clients to identify risks, opportunities and growth plans
Ensuring accounting systems are accurate, up to date and fit for purpose
Supporting new client wins, tenders and onboarding
Collaborating with tax, payroll and other teams to deliver joined-up solutions
Leading, coaching and developing team members as well as allocating daily workflow and ensuring deadlines are met to a high quality standard
Challenging processes and embracing technology to improve efficiency
Monitoring internal KPIs, WIP and recoverability across your client portfolio
Attending networking and referrer events to help grow the firm’s profile
Experience Required:
You will be a qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CA) with a strong grounding in professional practice and extensive experience working with UK SMEs and owner-managed businesses. Those operating in a like for like role will be considered without the need for a professional accounting qualification.
This role suits someone operating at Senior Manager or experienced Manager, with the ambition and capability to step into a senior leadership position. You’ll have a strong technical background across core accounting and tax, excellent attention to detail, and the commercial awareness to understand what clients really need day to day.
You’ll bring energy, initiative and confidence — someone who knows the rules but doesn’t just follow process. You’ll thrive in a fast-paced environment, enjoy leading people, and be motivated by building something rather than maintaining the status quo. Experience coaching staff, reviewing work, onboarding clients and embracing change is essential.
This role may particularly appeal to someone who trained in practice, moved into an independent or portfolio-style role, and is now looking to return to a supportive yet ambitious firm where they can still win work, advise clients and lead teams — without doing it alone. Similarly if you have found yourself in a firm where the ambition does not match that of yours this one will certainly not disappoint.

A genuine opportunity to help shape and lead a growing accounting and business advisory function
Freedom to develop new client relationships an manage your own client base

The Firm:
An established accountancy firm operating across Newcastle and the surrounding region are looking for a Corporate Finance Manager to join their business as they continue to support a growing number of SME and entrepreneurial clients with acquisitions, valuations, business sales, raising finance and strategy. Working in a hands on capacity alongside your Corporate Finance colleagues this role requires an experienced professional who can make an impact from the outset.
The Role:
This opportunity offers something genuinely different for a corporate finance professional who may currently feel like a small cog in a large machine. Joining a well-established but agile corporate finance team, you’ll have the chance to take real ownership, build your own profile, and shape your role — all while remaining part of a supportive and well-resourced environment.
Working closely with the Head of Corporate Finance, you will be involved across the full lifecycle of transactions and advisory engagements. The role combines hands-on deal execution with client-facing responsibility and the opportunity to influence how the team continues to grow.
As a Corporate Finance Manager, you will lead and deliver a wide range of assignments including company disposals, acquisitions, strategic valuations, and fundraising mandates. You will take responsibility for managing projects from initial briefing through to completion, coordinating internal resources and external advisers to ensure smooth delivery.
Your work will include preparing detailed financial models, business plans, and transaction documentation such as information memoranda. You will support clients through complex stages of a transaction, including due diligence, negotiations, and completion, acting as a trusted advisor throughout the process.
A key part of the role will be relationship-driven — developing strong connections with clients, funders, lawyers, and intermediaries, while also helping to identify opportunities for new instructions and repeat work. As the team continues to evolve, you will contribute to its growth by sharing ideas, supporting junior team members, and playing an active role in business development activity.
Experience Required:
We envisage this role would suit an experienced corporate finance professional who brings both strong technical capability and a commercial, client-focused mindset. You will be ACA or ACCA qualified (or equivalent) and confident applying your financial expertise to real-world transactional and advisory situations.
You’ll be comfortable preparing detailed financial models, reports, and client-facing presentations, with a strong eye for detail and the ability to clearly articulate your findings. A natural problem-solver, you’ll enjoy working closely with clients, understanding their objectives, and helping them navigate complex decisions with confidence.
Strong communication skills are essential, as you’ll be regularly liaising with clients, funders, legal advisers, and internal stakeholders. You’ll also bring a proactive, motivated approach, enjoying collaboration while being capable of working independently and taking ownership of your projects.
The role suits someone who enjoys autonomy, values visibility, and wants the scope to make a meaningful impact rather than simply delivering a narrow part of a larger process.
Benefits:
This is an opportunity to step into a role that offers genuine influence and visibility within a growing corporate finance team. Rather than being one of many, you’ll have the chance to shape your remit, build your own profile, and be recognised for the contribution you make.
You’ll benefit from exposure to a broad range of high-quality transactions, working directly with experienced leadership and a diverse, entrepreneurial client base. The role offers a balance of autonomy and support, allowing you to develop commercially while continuing to strengthen your technical skillset.
In return, the firm offers a competitive salary and benefits package, flexible working, and a culture that encourages progression, innovation, and long-term career development. For someone looking to move away from rigid structures and into a role where their ideas and expertise genuinely matter, this represents a compelling next step.

The Firm:
This well-established and highly regarded firm of Chartered Accountants offers the best of both worlds — the depth and resources of a larger practice, alongside the warmth and flexibility of a genuinely people-focused independent firm.
With a strong reputation across the North East and a high-quality, loyal client base, the firm continues to grow through technical excellence, commercial thinking and trusted client relationships. As part of this continued growth, they are now looking to appoint either a Tax Senior Manager or Tax Director to play a key role in the future development of their tax offering across the region.
The Role:
You will support the regional tax team and their client base, a skilled team who are responsible for the delivery of compliance work while maintaining a strong focus on advisory projects. Working closely with the Partner group, you’ll play a key role in shaping and delivering high-quality tax advice across a varied client base. Your responsibilities will include providing technical oversight, reviewing complex tax matters, and ensuring work is completed to the highest standard. The emphasis of the role lies in delivering advisory solutions — including projects such as IHT planning, R&D claims, and corporate restructuring — as well as supporting Partners with research and strategic input. We appreciate you may not be an expert in both corporate and personal tax, the firm have a number of technical advisors to lean upon, however a preference lies towards private client advisory. In addition, you’ll provide leadership and guidance to the tax team, helping to develop capability and confidence across the department. For those who enjoy client interaction, there is scope to build and nurture client relationships, contribute to planning meetings, and represent the firm at external networking events.
Experience required:
You will be CTA, ACA, ACCA or CA qualified, with a career in practice that demonstrates strong experience across tax compliance and advisory, either in a mixed tax or private client capacity.
This role would suit someone currently operating at Senior Manager or Director level who is ready for a broader leadership role and greater influence.
Experience in areas such as IHT, trusts, residency, and/or corporate reorganisations is highly desirable.
We are looking for someone with a commercial and entrepreneurial mindset — someone who enjoys building relationships, influencing outcomes, and leading from the front. The firm offers genuine progression, including a clear route beyond Director level for the right person.
Benefits:
You can expect a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package aligned to your level of experience. This is a long-term opportunity with a firm that invests in its people and offers real scope for progression, influence and career satisfaction.
