The Role:

Experience Required:

The Role:
As a Corporate Tax Manager, you will lead the delivery of corporate tax services to a varied and often complex portfolio of clients. You will take ownership of managing client relationships, ensuring compliance requirements are met while supporting broader tax planning and advisory projects.
Your responsibilities will include managing and reviewing complex corporation tax returns, including larger group submissions, and guiding the team through the workflow to ensure work is completed accurately, on time, and in line with client expectations. You will oversee a portfolio with a strong advisory focus, managing ongoing projects with input from Directors and Partners, and ensuring advisory checklists and technical conclusions are completed to a high standard.
You will also take a hands-on role in developing more junior team members—delegating appropriately, reviewing their work, offering feedback, and ensuring they gain exposure across compliance and advisory matters.
A key part of this role involves understanding clients’ commercial drivers, sector challenges, and opportunities. You will be expected to handle complex client queries independently, brief junior staff effectively, and maintain strong communication with audit and business advisory teams to deliver a joined-up service.
Commercial awareness is essential, including monitoring WIP, ensuring appropriate billing, developing pricing strategies, attending pre-year-end and completion meetings, and supporting the preparation of proposals, fee quotes, and tenders. You will also contribute to business development by identifying opportunities, cultivating new relationships, and helping secure new engagements for the firm.
This is a role suited to a strong communicator with excellent technical capability who enjoys a blend of compliance, advisory work, client development, and team leadership.
Experience Required:
Professionally qualified or qualified by experience (CTA / ACA / ACCA / CA or equivalent)
Solid experience developed within an accountancy practice
Strong technical grounding in corporate tax compliance and advisory work

You’ll be involved in advising how VAT impacts clients’ supply chains, financial processes, and accounting systems, while supporting them to improve reporting, reduce errors, manage working capital, and minimise costs.

Key responsibilities include:
Supporting senior colleagues in building and maintaining client relationships
Delivering high-quality VAT advisory and compliance services
Managing the day-to-day liaison with clients, ensuring expectations are met
Identifying areas of risk and knowing when to escalate
Contributing to business development through managing existing clients and identifying new opportunities
Ensuring work is delivered with technical excellence and a practical, commercial focus.
Experience Required:
Proven UK VAT experience, gained within practice or an in-house tax team
Strong technical VAT skills with a genuine interest in developing your expertise further
