The Firm:

An exciting opportunity to join a progressive accountancy practice with an interesting client base, a broad range of expertise and a real focus on helping its people develop.

Working with businesses and individuals across a variety of sectors, the firm offers far more than traditional accountancy and tax compliance. There is a real mix of clients, interesting challenges and opportunities to work alongside specialists across different areas of the business.

The team has a great dynamic, with people who enjoy what they do, share their knowledge and are keen to help each other succeed. It's an environment where you can build relationships, get involved, ask questions and develop your experience, rather than simply coming in to process a workload.

The Role:

Working with a varied portfolio of personal tax clients, you will take responsibility for preparing and managing personal tax compliance work, while also having the opportunity to get involved in wider advisory assignments.

The client base is particularly interesting, ranging from individuals and sole traders through to directors of owner-managed businesses and more complex clients. This provides plenty of variety and the opportunity to build your technical knowledge across a broad range of tax matters.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing personal Self-Assessment tax returns.

  • Preparing P11Ds, advising on benefits in kind and dealing with PAYE Settlement Agreements.

  • Preparing Capital Gains Tax computations and property-related CGT returns.

  • Managing client queries and building strong working relationships.

  • Liaising with HMRC and colleagues across other service lines.

  • Supporting tax advisory assignments and getting involved in a variety of client projects.

  • Assisting with the development and coaching of more junior team members.

Importantly, this is not simply a compliance-focused position. There will be opportunities to gain exposure to advisory work, work alongside experienced colleagues and become involved in more complex client matters as your experience develops.

Experience Required:

We are keen to hear from someone with previous experience in a personal tax role, who is looking to continue developing their technical ability and broaden their exposure.

You will ideally have:

  • ATT qualification, part-qualified status or be qualified by experience.

  • Good experience preparing personal tax returns.

  • A sound understanding of personal tax, partnership tax and Capital Gains Tax.

  • Good communication skills and the confidence to deal directly with clients.

  • A proactive approach, with good organisation and the ability to manage your own workload.

  • An interest in developing your advisory knowledge and taking on new challenges.

  • Any exposure to IHT, CGT or even Trusts would be of interest

Benefits:

  • A great team environment with people who genuinely enjoy working together.

  • The opportunity to gain hands-on experience in tax advisory work, not just compliance

  • CTA support if desired.

  • 25 days holiday increasing with years of service

  • Health cash plan

  • Pension

  • Free car parking

  • Regular social activities within the wider firm
