The Firm:
This national practice has a strong presence across the UK, supporting an impressive range of clients from large PLCs through to local owner-managed businesses. Their reputation continues to grow, fuelled by investment in people, technology, and new service lines. Joining their regional tax team means becoming part of a culture that genuinely prioritises your development, offering breadth of exposure and a clear pathway for progression.
The Role:
As a Corporate Tax Manager, you will lead the delivery of corporate tax services to a varied and often complex portfolio of clients. You will take ownership of managing client relationships, ensuring compliance requirements are met while supporting broader tax planning and advisory projects.
Your responsibilities will include managing and reviewing complex corporation tax returns, including larger group submissions, and guiding the team through the workflow to ensure work is completed accurately, on time, and in line with client expectations. You will oversee a portfolio with a strong advisory focus, managing ongoing projects with input from Directors and Partners, and ensuring advisory checklists and technical conclusions are completed to a high standard.
You will also take a hands-on role in developing more junior team members—delegating appropriately, reviewing their work, offering feedback, and ensuring they gain exposure across compliance and advisory matters.
A key part of this role involves understanding clients’ commercial drivers, sector challenges, and opportunities. You will be expected to handle complex client queries independently, brief junior staff effectively, and maintain strong communication with audit and business advisory teams to deliver a joined-up service.
Commercial awareness is essential, including monitoring WIP, ensuring appropriate billing, developing pricing strategies, attending pre-year-end and completion meetings, and supporting the preparation of proposals, fee quotes, and tenders. You will also contribute to business development by identifying opportunities, cultivating new relationships, and helping secure new engagements for the firm.
This is a role suited to a strong communicator with excellent technical capability who enjoys a blend of compliance, advisory work, client development, and team leadership.
Experience Required:
Professionally qualified or qualified by experience (CTA / ACA / ACCA / CA or equivalent)
Solid experience developed within an accountancy practice
Strong technical grounding in corporate tax compliance and advisory work
Ability to manage complex client portfolios and lead client discussions
Proven experience reviewing corporation tax returns, including groups
Confidence in supervising staff and guiding their development
Benefits:
You’ll be joining a progressive and supportive regional tax team with a strong social culture and a genuine commitment to career advancement. Expect exposure to high-quality technical work, structured development opportunities, and the full suite of benefits offered by a national practice that truly values its people and invests in their long-term growth.
