The Role:

This is a great opportunity for an experienced practice accountant to join a forward-thinking team, working with a varied portfolio of businesses and individuals.

The role offers exposure to a broad range of accounting work, including statutory accounts, year-end accounts, VAT and elements of outsourced finance support. You’ll have regular client interaction, the opportunity to develop your technical knowledge and the support of experienced colleagues around you.

Working as part of the Newcastle team, you will be responsible for preparing high-quality accounts and supporting clients across a range of accounting requirements.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing statutory financial statements for small limited companies, including businesses with more complex accounting requirements.

  • Producing year-end accounts for sole traders and partnerships.

  • Supporting VAT and outsourced accounting assignments where required.

  • Liaising directly with clients to obtain information, respond to queries and ensure work progresses smoothly.

  • Preparing accurate and well-organised files for review by Managers and Directors.

  • Working collaboratively with colleagues to deliver a high standard of service.

  • Spending time both in the office and at client sites, depending on the requirements of the role and client.

You will have the opportunity to work with a varied client base, develop your technical expertise and build the confidence to manage client relationships effectively.

Experience Required:

We are looking for an Accounts Senior with previous experience gained within an accountancy practice and a strong understanding of accounts preparation.

  • You will ideally have:

    • AAT Level 4 qualification or equivalent practical experience.

    • Experience preparing accounts for limited companies, sole traders and partnerships.

    • Strong technical accounting knowledge and attention to detail.

    • Experience using accounting platforms such as Xero, Sage and QuickBooks.

    • Good communication skills, with the confidence to build positive relationships with clients and colleagues.

    • A proactive and dependable approach to managing workloads and meeting deadlines.

    • The ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within a team.
