The Role:

An opportunity has arisen for an Accounts Assistant to join the firm's Accounting & Business Services team, supporting a varied portfolio of clients across a range of industries.

Working alongside and experienced team you will assist with the preparation of year-end statutory accounts, bookkeeping, management accounts and VAT returns, whilst developing your technical knowledge across a broad range of accounting services. You will also gain exposure to corporation tax work and provide day-to-day support to clients, helping them with accounting queries and cloud accounting software.

This is a varied role offering excellent client contact and the opportunity to build experience across all aspects of general practice accounting within a supportive team environment. It is not a training role and does require an individual who is already preparing year end accounts confidently.

Experience Required:

Applicants should have previous experience working within an accountancy practice and enjoy working at a hands on accounts preparation level. It is not suited to those wishing to continue further with exams.

You will ideally:

  • Be AAT Level 4 qualified, or AAT Level 3 qualified with relevant practice experience.

  • Have at least 2-3 years' experience working within an accountancy practice.

  • Be confident preparing year-end accounts, bookkeeping and VAT returns.

  • Have experience assisting with management accounts and month-end processes.

  • Possess good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and cloud accounting software such as Xero, Sage or QuickBooks.

  • Demonstrate excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.

  • Be a positive team player with strong communication skills and a genuine desire to provide excellent client service.
