The Firm:

This well-established and highly regarded firm of Chartered Accountants offers the best of both worlds — the depth and resources of a larger practice, alongside the warmth and flexibility of a genuinely people-focused independent firm.

With a strong reputation across the North East and a high-quality, loyal client base, the firm continues to grow through technical excellence, commercial thinking and trusted client relationships. As part of this continued growth, they are now looking to appoint either a Tax Senior Manager or Tax Director to play a key role in the future development of their tax offering across the region.

The Role:

You will support the regional tax team and their client base, a skilled team who are responsible for the delivery of compliance work while maintaining a strong focus on advisory projects. Working closely with the Partner group, you’ll play a key role in shaping and delivering high-quality tax advice across a varied client base. Your responsibilities will include providing technical oversight, reviewing complex tax matters, and ensuring work is completed to the highest standard. The emphasis of the role lies in delivering advisory solutions — including projects such as IHT planning, R&D claims, and corporate restructuring — as well as supporting Partners with research and strategic input. We appreciate you may not be an expert in both corporate and personal tax, the firm have a number of technical advisors to lean upon, however a preference lies towards private client advisory. In addition, you’ll provide leadership and guidance to the tax team, helping to develop capability and confidence across the department. For those who enjoy client interaction, there is scope to build and nurture client relationships, contribute to planning meetings, and represent the firm at external networking events.

Experience required:

You will be CTA, ACA, ACCA or CA qualified, with a career in practice that demonstrates strong experience across tax compliance and advisory, either in a mixed tax or private client capacity.

This role would suit someone currently operating at Senior Manager or Director level who is ready for a broader leadership role and greater influence.

Experience in areas such as IHT, trusts, residency, and/or corporate reorganisations is highly desirable.

We are looking for someone with a commercial and entrepreneurial mindset — someone who enjoys building relationships, influencing outcomes, and leading from the front. The firm offers genuine progression, including a clear route beyond Director level for the right person.

Benefits:

You can expect a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package aligned to your level of experience. This is a long-term opportunity with a firm that invests in its people and offers real scope for progression, influence and career satisfaction.
