The Firm:

We are working with a well-established independent accountancy practice that has ambitious plans for continued growth. Small enough to offer a personal and supportive environment, but with a clear appetite to develop, the firm is looking to strengthen its team with the appointment of an experienced Accounts Semi-Senior.

The practice works with a varied portfolio of clients and prides itself on building strong, long-term relationships rather than simply providing a compliance service.

The Role:

This is an excellent opportunity for an Accounts Semi-Senior looking to develop broad general practice experiencewithin a supportive and ambitious team.

Working closely with an experienced Manager, you will have exposure to a wide range of accounting and tax work and, importantly, regular contact with clients. The role offers variety across accounts preparation, VAT, bookkeeping and tax, giving you the opportunity to continue developing your technical knowledge while becoming increasingly confident in managing client relationships.

You will work across a diverse portfolio of clients, ranging from sole traders and small owner-managed businesses through to companies operating within sectors including property, education and the wider services and trades.

Your responsibilities will include preparing year-end accounts for sole directors and limited companies, as well as sole trader accounts and VAT returns. You will also undertake a small amount of bookkeeping and support with business and corporation tax compliance.

A key part of the role will be managing communication between clients and the firm's overseas outsourcing provider. You will deal with queries, ensure information is understood and accurately processed, and act as an important link between the client and outsourced team across bookkeeping and payroll matters.

You will have regular client contact, so the ability to build rapport, communicate clearly and develop trusted relationships will be essential.

For candidates who have not yet had exposure to corporation tax, training and support can be provided.

Experience Required:

We are looking for someone with a solid practice background who enjoys variety and wants to continue developing across general accountancy. You will have a minimum of AAT Level 3 or equivalent with 2- 3 years experience working within an accountancy practice at Semi-Senior level or similar

  • Have experience preparing accounts for limited companies and sole traders

  • Have exposure to VAT and general accounting work

  • Have strong organisational skills and the ability to manage your own workload

  • Be confident communicating directly with clients

  • Have a personable approach and enjoy building strong client relationships

  • Be comfortable working with accounting software, ideally including Xero and TaxCalc

  • Have some knowledge of CIS, although this is not essential

Benefits:

The role is office-based, Monday to Friday, 9.00am–5.15pm, providing a consistent working environment within a friendly and collaborative team.

The salary is generous and above market rate for this level, but does compensate the minimal benefits over and above 25 days holiday and pension.
