A Newcastle based Independent firm of Chartered Accountants with a well established and enviable client base are looking to appoint a Corporate Tax professional to their team. Both Senior, Assistant Manager or Manager level can be accommodated in this opportunity with plenty of potential for continued progression.

You will be providing tax services and strategic consultancy advice to privately owned businesses, wealthy individuals, families and their businesses. In a role that combines compliance, planning and advisory you will work towards mitigating tax liabilities through pro-active tax planning and business structuring. This will include managing all aspects of the client relationship with private or family-owned businesses on a broad range of complex matters.

This is a varied role that will see you partnering alongside other specialists in the firm to provide the best advice to clients.

Advisory projects will include:

  • Tax planning to business owners via client meetings, bespoke reports and advice.
  • Research and development
  • Succession planning, reorganisations & restructuring projects
  • Capital allowance claims
  • EMI/share scheme advisory and implementation
  • Transactional advice on buy and sell for management buyouts
  • Financial statement analysis for business valuations for agreement with HMRC

You will also be involved in:

  • Complex corporate tax compliance preparation and review
  • Regular liaison with professional advisors, lawyers and stakeholders as well as working with senior management and boards
  • Maintaining an expert level of relevant tax knowledge staying current with technical developments including changes in tax law and legislation.
  • Advising clients and internal stakeholders on the latest tax technical issues, including delivering sessions at client / knowledge events.
  • Supervising, coaching and providing regular feedback to Associates within the team while also keeping more senior stakeholders updated of progress

This is a key role in the team and we are looking for a tax professional, CTA/ACA/ACCA qualified (or finalist) currently working in practice (or In-house) with mixed and or corporate tax experience. You will have some experience of advising privately owned businesses, wealthy individuals, families and their businesses tax affairs.

Some overlap with personal tax would be useful when speaking with business owners but not essential as the firm have specialists to support on such queries. We would welcome someone who wishes to return to practice perhaps missing the technical challenge and variety they have been used to. Similarly if you are working in corporate tax compliance and frustrated for more of a challenge this can certainly offer this. There will be plenty of opportunities to network and attend local events.
