Group Financial Accountant

Enjoying significant growth over the last 3 years has created the requirement for a Financial Accountant to join this group which has operations across the North East of England, Yorkshire and Cumbria. Their offices are based near Gosforth, Newcastle where you will report to the Financial Controller.

As Group Financial Accountant you will be responsible for taking the lead on the delivery of the annual audits for the group entities and producing the subsidiary company statutory accounts and group consolidations. With a proactive approach to analysis you will work in collaboration with the finance team to develop a robust year-end process that ensures group reporting is timely.

As a qualified Accountant, either from Industry or a first time mover from the profession, you will apply your technical knowledge to understand the financial reporting standards and make informed decisions and analysis of the treatment of significant financial transactions.  Involvement in the annual budget and regular forecasts will also be part of your remit.

As the business continues to acquire we are looking for an Accountant with the willingness to take on additional responsibilities for financial accounting as they enter new territories.

Those who have trained in practice may have an advantage as you will work with external accounting firms to ensure compliance with regulations. The completion of group management accounts, balance sheet reviews, group VAT submission and assisting the Financial  Controller with ad-hoc projects all form part of your varied role.

You will work alongside the Financial Analyst to deliver forecast and budget variances, creating and interpreting business performance KPI’s.

We are looking for the successful candidate to possess the following:

  • Qualified Accountant – ACA/ACCA/CIMA
  • Experience of FRS102 reporting and accounting preferably within a multi-site business
  • Experience with Sage (desirable) and strong Excel skills
  • Able to thrive in a rapidly changing environment
  • Supervisory or leadership experience
  • Presentation of “soft” skills such as presentation, influencing, negotiation, communication and ability to challenge.

A competitive salary upto £50,000pa including 25 days holiday, pension, company discounts and flexible arrangements to work from home after probation are available to the successful applicant.
