Bookkeeper – Part or Full-Time

A local accountancy firm based close to Kingston Park are seeking to appoint a Bookkeeper or Outsourcing Assistant in a newly created position.  The opportunity is open to applicants from either a practice or industry background, although prior experience in an accountancy firm would be preference.

Supporting the Accountant and Accounts Manager in a small team you will be working with a portfolio of small local business owners, assisting them with their month to month bookkeeping and VAT returns. Most of the accounts will be on cloud based systems with a few still manual and excel based. Your clients will look to you for day to day support ensuring their accounting records are in order.  This will entail guidance on the use of systems such as Xero, Quickbooks and Sage so applicants must be familiar with at least one of these accounting systems, confident to provide advice on its functionality.

There will also be the opportunity to prepare statutory year end accounts to first draft stage, training can be given in this area. For those already with such experience the role can expand to include this from the outset.

We are looking for a Bookkeeper who is hands-on and enjoys the detail of balancing clients books. There will be plenty of interaction with clients so it is essential that you have good communication skills and naturally enjoy the interaction this kind of position will provide meeting business owners. AAT Level 4 or equivalent is desirable but no means essential. Training towards AAT or ACCA is available after your probation period.

The role is office based but can offer some hybrid working in the medium term once  relationships and knowledge is established. Full and part- time hours are also available with a minimum of 3 days being required , although hours can be tailored across the week to suit within reason.
